The former hardening shop within the Imperial Shipyard (Stocznia Cesarska) is one of the buildings that — despite the passage of time — has retained the spirit of Gdańsk’s industrial past. Our adaptive reuse project transforms this space into a venue that seamlessly integrates history, culture, and a modern lifestyle.

Historical Context and Significance

The Imperial Shipyard is one of Gdańsk’s most important post-industrial areas. Its buildings, largely dating from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, represent a unique example of shipyard architecture.

Key design principles include preserving the brick facade along with its original divisions; conserving the steel structure and deliberately exposing it as a visible interior feature; introducing new functions without compromising the characteristic hall space; implementing subtle, industrial lighting to enhance the architectural qualities; and utilizing finishing materials inspired by the site’s industrial character.

New Function

The project plans for the creation of a craft brewery operating on the basis of traditional recipes and brewing methods. Its heart is the production area, which is visible to guests thanks to the open interior layout, along with a bar and a two-level tasting space.
